One of the ways Elsevier gives back the communities we serve is by funding a nurse faculty retention program through the Elsevier Foundation. This program is led by Sigma Theta Tau International, and pairs experienced nurse faculty with new nurse faculty to teach leadership skills that help them overcome the most difficult early years after transitioning from practice to faculty.

We recently concluded our first New Nurse Faculty Leadership Development Program, and just launched our second, expanded program; the Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy (NFLA). Applications are open until November 18th.
I was in Dallas last week for NFLA planning meetings and the first day of the STTI Biennial Convention, one of my favorite events. I had the honor to provide some remarks to a dinner hosted in honor of the STTI Leadership Institute funders, including Elsevier, The John A. Hartford Foundation, Johnson & Johnson Corporate Contributions, Hill-Rom Company and The Northwest Health Foundation. I thought I’d share my comments below that speak to our commitment to nursing, our partnership with Sigma and our successful first class of graduating faculty scholars:
